Hash Generator
Generate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes and HMACs for text or files, and verify checksums.
Fingerprint text and files
A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint of data: the same input always gives the same hash, and changing a single byte changes it completely. Use it to check downloads, compare files or create checksums.
How to use
- Choose Text and type, or choose File and drop any file.
- MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 are calculated at once.
- Switch the output between lowercase hex, uppercase HEX and Base64.
- Paste a published checksum into “Compare” to confirm a download is intact.
HMAC
Turn on HMAC and enter a secret key to create keyed hashes, for example to check webhook signatures. Browsers don't offer HMAC-MD5.
Which one should I use?
- SHA-256 is the modern default for checksums and security.
- MD5 and SHA-1 are broken for security but still common for legacy checksums.
