This tool validates credit card numbers using the Luhn algorithm and detects card types. Useful for developers testing payment forms or users verifying card number formats.

How to Use

1. Enter a credit card number (spaces are automatically formatted)
2. The tool automatically validates as you type (after 13 digits)
3. View the validation result and detected card type
4. Copy the formatted card number if needed

Validation Method

This tool uses the Luhn algorithm (also known as the "modulus 10" algorithm) to validate card numbers:

• Validates the mathematical checksum of the card number
• Used by all major credit card companies
• Detects common data entry errors
• Does NOT verify if the card is active or has funds

Supported Card Types

• Visa (starts with 4)
• Mastercard (starts with 51-55)
• American Express (starts with 34 or 37)
• Discover (starts with 6011 or 65)
• Diners Club (starts with 300-305, 36, or 38)
• JCB (starts with 3528-3589)

• This tool only validates the format, not the card's validity or availability
• All processing happens locally in your browser
• Card numbers are never stored or transmitted
• Use only for testing and validation purposes
